A Day at Donington: Where the Race Family Started
It certainly wasn't the easiest start to the day at Donington Park.
The weather had other ideas, with the rain and conditions continually pushing us back and making it increasingly difficult to get Brayden out on track. With every delay, the pressure was building, and eventually we made the decision to pay for an additional evening session to make sure Brayden got his chance to ride.
It was absolutely worth it.
Despite the weather trying its best to disrupt the day, the mood in the garage was buzzing. This was the first time we'd met Brayden and Ted, and from the moment they arrived, everyone just seemed to click. There was a great atmosphere around the garage, plenty of laughs, and it didn't take long before it felt like everyone had known each other for much longer.
Once we finally got Brayden out on track, the hard work and patience started to pay off. The results were great, and more importantly, it gave everyone a chance to see what we could build together.
Away from the track, there was plenty going on too. GPs Photography was there capturing the day, while the garage atmosphere became increasingly relaxed as everyone settled in.
And then came the Backstreet Boys.
What started as a bit of music quickly turned into an impromptu dance session, led by the owner, with GPs Photography getting involved and even a reluctant Martin from Clothing Kings eventually joining in. It wasn't exactly part of the day's schedule, but it perfectly captured the mood in the garage.
For all the challenges the weather threw at us, it turned into a day we'll remember for a very different reason.
Looking back, Donington on 3 June feels like a real pivotal moment. It was the first time we'd met Brayden and Ted, the first time everyone came together, and the first time that feeling of being part of something bigger really started to take hold.
The results were great, the atmosphere was even better, and most importantly, everyone got along.
That was the day the race family started.
Sometimes it's the days that don't go exactly to plan that become the ones you remember most. The rain may have pushed us around, the timetable may have gone out of the window, and we may have had to pay for another evening session just to get Brayden on track — but in the end, it was all worth it.
Donington wasn't just another day at the circuit.
It was the beginning of something.
